Day-by-Day Itinerary
You’ll be collected from your hotel in Livingstone and travel along the Zambezi River to Ngonye Falls. While smaller than Victoria Falls, the powerful water cutting through ancient basalt rock formations creates a dramatic and photogenic spectacle. Explore the area on foot with a guided hike around the falls, then cross by boat to an island offering the best panoramic views of the cascading water. As evening settles in, set up camp near the river and fall asleep to the sound of the Zambezi.

Today takes you into Liuwa Plain National Park—a vast, untouched landscape of honey-colored grasslands, scattered water pans, and clusters of acacia trees. Spanning approximately 3,660 km², Liuwa is home to thousands of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, red lechwe, reedbuck, and oribi roaming freely across the plains. Predators including hyena, wild dog, and lion are also frequently sighted. Settle in for a night of bush camping with running water, showers, and proper toilet facilities.

The park’s remote location means you’ll often have the wildlife sightings entirely to yourself. Return to camp for meals and rest under the expansive African sky.

Depart Liuwa Plain and journey toward Kafue National Park—one of Africa’s largest protected areas. The drive takes you through varied landscapes, with opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. Arrive in the Chunga area, where you’ll set up camp at Mayukuyuku Camp, situated on the banks of the Kafue River. This region is known for its healthy populations of wild dog, cheetah, and lion. Enjoy sundowner views over the river before dinner.

Drive through pristine Miombo forest, winding through an area dotted with small rivers and waterholes scattered throughout the woodland. The Miombo ecosystem is also rich in birdlife, with endemic species found nowhere else in Zambia. Return to Mayukuyuku Camp in the evening for a relaxing night by the river.

Explore the varied landscapes of Kafue National Park, where the Busanga Floodplains and river channels create a wildlife paradise. Take game drives along the riverbanks and floodplain edges, where large herds of puku, lechwe, and buffalo gather. Birds of prey, including fish eagles and bateleur eagles, circle overhead. End the day with sundowners overlooking the Kafue River before returning to camp for dinner.

Enjoy a final evening under the stars at Mayukuyuku Camp.

After breakfast, pack up camp and begin your transfer back to Lusaka. The journey takes you through the Zambian countryside, with plenty of opportunities to reflect on your safari experiences.
